83% Savings: Our Kroger Receipts of $244.59 for Just $41.38

Kroger is by far one of our favorite stores to shop because they run great sales and they double coupons.  We pretty much do all of our grocery shopping at Kroger, except for items we know are on a special sale for the week somewhere else or for some basic items like canned veggies.  (For those we shop Aldi;  no coupons needed and consistently cheap pricing!).

Anyway, recently we made a few trips to Kroger and we scored a bunch of food and soda pop, 106 items in all, that totalled $244.59 before our printable coupons, manufacturer’s coupons and Kroger Plus Card discounts.  (This doesn’t include any SavingsStar money we earned in our account either.)  Afterwards we ended up paying just $41.38!  That is an 83% savings!  In case you are wondering, we did buy meat that day too which included 2 beef roasts and 2 packs of pork steaks.  We also bought some fresh vegetables as well.

You may wonder why there are 4 receipts.  As most of you know, we live in a rural area so when we shop it involves a little drive so we combine “shop day” with whatever errands or commitments we have outside of our town.  Jim happened to have an appointment in one town so afterwards we went to Kroger.  They have a policy of only 3 like coupons per transaction so we needed to check out separately so that we could purchase more than 3 of certain items that we had great coupons for.  So there we ended up with 2 receipts.

Kroger #1 was out of WishBone salad dressing and the toothpaste we wanted so we stopped at Kroger #2 to pick up those items.  They had them, so that meant we each checked out separately again.

Wolla–4 receipts and a whole lot of savings!!
