It is mind boggling to us that we are on the verge of putting 2015 to bed.
Does that make you smile? Does that make you sad? Admittedly it does a bit of both for me. I am always a bit sad when Christmas holidays are over because I truly think they are magical. I love every single moment about the holidays including the family gatherings, the shopping, the wrapping of gifts and making them as pretty as can be, the visiting, the relaxing, the reflection on how blessed we are, etc.
You get the idea.
When that is over I feel a little bit of emptiness, but this year it isn’t as bad as years before for me. I think it is because I am really looking forward to an amazing year to come.
2016 – I think it is going to be amazing. Since we are big believers in the power of positive thinking, you may as well start off the year with a good attitude, right?
2016 aspirations
- As far as The Clever Couple goes, we plan to keep sharing our lives with you and the (hopefully) helpful things we encounter along the way. We hope to include many more DIY types of projects, simple life hacks to make day to day living easier, money saving tips and more. As we continue to get away from being a “coupon blog” and encompass more of our lifestyle into the website we encourage you to provide us with your valuable feedback.
- Enjoy every single day; too often we are reminded that life can be over in a flash and we don’t want to miss one single beat of living in the moment
- Get healthier. Both of us know we need to eat better and exercise more. We used to be very disciplined with exercising and we’ve fallen off the wagon. It’s time to bring that back into our lives.
- Continue the quest to be debt free. 2016 will not be a year of acquiring any new debt. In fact, we plan on paying off the remaining debt we have this year (car loan and 1 other loan) and then turning all focus to working on paying off our mortgage. That won’t be complete in 2016 (unless we come into a windfall for some reason, or win the lotto), but we are getting “gazelle intense” about this goal.
- Expand our businesses. We run a few other businesses outside of The Clever Couple, and we are excited to see them grow this year.
- Cherish the small stuff and take time to enjoy it. Call a family member just to check in, send a note to someone you have not seen in a while, take the time to donate to charity, listen to someone when they need a friend, savor the blooms in the garden, the smell of fresh cut grass, the wonderful wooded property we are lucky to live on. No matter where you are, you can have an attitude of gratitude for what you have.
- Be the best spouse I possibly can.
I think I could go on and on with these aspirations for the coming year. What about your aspirations?
Thank you so very much for sharing your lives with us and for deeming us worthy of your valuable time. We cherish your friendship and wish you an utterly amazing new year. Let’s all grab this one, hang on tight and enjoy the magical ride!
