Well, day 2 was our first day of “doing something”; day 1 was spent in the car driving.
Day 2 we hit King’s Island, a really big and very cool theme park. It was hot, everyone knew it was hot, but we are talking heat index of 115! Oh well, there was no option but to deal with it. The good news was that everyone there was just as hot so it was accepted to be a hot sweaty mess…..no one cared!
If you have ever been to a theme park you know the options for being thrifty are very slim. There are no real amazing thrifty tips to tell you about that even come close to normal savings. For example, in the theme park buying the $9.99 souvenir glass is actually a really good deal because then you can have it refilled all day long with soda for just $1.99. That is a big savings. Plus, they would fill the cup with ice water for free! We have 9 in our traveling family fun party–so we bought a two and just shared. That saved us a ton, since drinking was a popular activity in our efforts to beat the heat.
One clever money saver was we packed a cooler bag with Oscar Mayer Lunchables for the kids and the sandwiches for the adults. We came back to the car and ate (in air conditioning…hooray!!) as we drove over to the water park part of the park. Since it was so hot, no one was really ravenously hungry so this little eating break plus a few stops along the way in the park for a pretzel and fries was just enough. Plus, the break from the walking and theme park was nice for us all.
Oh, and one of the smartest thing we did was purchase the admission tickets online using eBay. After scouring online for the best price on tickets, which was $35.99 through the King’s Island website, I turned to eBay. Have you checked eBay for event tickets? You can log onto eBay and search for whatever event ticket or attraction you are going to be attending. A quick search for Kings Island tickets brought up a few results and I was able to purchase a discounted offer that saved us over 40%! Score!
Check out eBay when you are getting ready to visit a major attraction; you never know what deals you may stumble upon!
Enjoy your day!
