Tonight I ran out to do some shopping, including a stop to a local jewelry store, Walgreens and the fruit market.
First, I hit the jewelry store and found exactly what I was looking for at the right price. That alone made me happy, but then the sales associate informed me that because I spent over $50 I was entitled to a FREE necklace! Woo-hoo! Talk about a nice way to make my day, and I got to pick the color too. (They are leather corded necklaces that hold Pandora charms).
Then I hit Walgreens, where they had every single thing in stock that I wanted. Can you believe it? Wednesday night and they had it all…..hooray! I scored a bunch of items free or nearly free, which I will detail on our You Tube Channel tomorrow.
Next up was the fruit market, because I had a taste for some cabbage or corn to make with dinner.
I don’t normally shop at the store I went to, but it was on the way so I pulled in. Well, the corn goddesses in the sky must have read my mind. I walked in to see a frenzy of about 5 people at the corn; I assumed they were just like me and had a taste for it. Wrong! It was hectic because they were giving away FREE corn! Yes, as a customer appreciation giveaway every customer could choose a dozen ears of corn for FREE. I did the happy dance as I picked my corn out and then merrily walked over and picked up the cabbage, zucchini and peppers.
After I checked out and proudly took my corn on the cob out the door I smiled inside knowing that I am blessed. I had a lucky free day and I have the power and the knowledge to be a thrifty shopper and save our family money. Granted, the freebies today were nothing I created (OK, maybe the deals at Wags…) but I know that it’s just part of the journey of life and I am blessed.
