For our readers that live near Saginaw, Michigan we have a call to action which is also a great way to help out local service men and women.
The food pantry at the 919th Reserve Unit in Saginaw provides services to all branches of service men and women including Veterans. Their shelves are lacking some basic items and we’re happy to help spread the word.
Here is a list of items they are in need of:
- Cans of tuna, chicken, ham, Spam (needed very badly)
- Boxes or bags of rice
- Spaghetti noodles (they have enough sauce, but are lacking in noodles)
- Baked beans
- Pancake mix & syrup
- Boxed cereals
- Baby food (needed very badly)
- Jello
- Cans or microwave packaged dinners (like Barilla, Hormel, etc) (needed very badly)
- Applesauce
- Mens razors
- Paper towels
We went through our stockpile and were able to round up a bunch of items thanks to our couponing. The recent sales on Barilla and cereal really helped, as well as the ever present opportunities for inexpensive noodles and rice! We sent over all sorts of noodles, not just spaghetti noodles.
If you are interested in making a donation, thank you! The local chapter of the PLAV in Bay City is accepting donations for the food pantry. They are located at 801 S. Farragut St., Bay City. Donation hours are 1:00-9:00 daily. If it is easier for you to drop your items off at the food pantry that is also acceptable. It is located on Towerline Road, near Holland, in Saginaw.
We are really glad to know that these items will be put to good use! Thank you in advance for your generosity!
