The Dawn of a New Couponing Era – Goodbye Double Coupons at Kroger

Today starts the new Kroger coupon policy around here (we are in Michigan), and no longer do we get to enjoy double coupons at Kroger stores.  Many of you have experienced this change already as Kroger slowly but surely stopped doubling coupons throughout the nation.  Michigan was the last hold out, and we were so blessed while it lasted.

How do you feel about this change?  Will it make you shop differently?  Will you still be a loyal Kroger shopper?

For us this change means that we are going to be more aware of deals at other stores, and in turn we’ll be passing those deals on to  you.  It means Kroger will no longer be our “go to” store of choice automatically.  They’ve promised to  lower the overall prices in the store but we have heard that before from other stores as they changed their coupon doubling policy (for example, Meijer) and did not really see any dramatic price drops.  We’ve heard from a family member that works at Kroger that the focus of the price drops will be on their meat.  Well that is good, because in our opinion their meat prices were always high unless they were running a sale.

We are not ones to moan and groan and wallow in poor me attitudes.  We’re dusting off the coupon binder and are determined to keep saving money.  We are also determined to keep bringing you the best deals we can find and to enjoy the savings process with you.

We’d love to hear your thoughts and to see how this change will effect you.

  1. I have not been in Meijers in years and I ignore their circulars when they come in the mail. Guess I will have to start comparison shop now. I think Kroger will still be our “go to” store as its just around the corner from us so convenient if just getting a few items. We adjust and life goes on….

I will not drive 45 mins to $1 double Kroger anymore. We have a Kroger 5 miles away. Honestly I will probably shop more local, not chain stores. They still double to .50 and prices are comparable. I didn’t shop at Meijers for months when they stopped. I can still probably count on my hand how many times I have been . But I can’t avoid no double stores now just on principles. I will keep saving where I can that’s for sure. We have to on one income.
