It is Valentine’s Day and we want to wish each of you a happy day!
Will you be doing anything special today? Whatever you do we hope the day is a happy one and that we all take time out to be grateful for those in our lives that add sparkle to our everyday.
We are not exchanging store bought gifts this year; we have not done so in quite some time. We would both rather take that money and spend it on a nice dinner out or a movie or a weekend away. But don’t think romance has dwindled at the TCC household! Just look at what I awoke to find outside the window today:
Did you know that the day is named for St. Valentine? This is the month of romance and while it has become more and more commercialized in today’s society it wasn’t always that way. You can read more about the History of Valentine’s Day here.
As early as the 1700’s people began exchanging hand made Valentine’s greetings. Can you imagine the amount of work that must have went into some of those creations? Glue, markers, paper; we take that all for granted but we are guessing that in the 1700’s those items were scarce and hard to come by. (Oh, and forget markers way back then!).
By the way….don’t tell Mr. TCC but I created a special Valentine card for him that he’ll get a little later on. I’ll post photos tomorrow.
