Do you have an IKEA store nearby? If so, you are super lucky in our opinion because that is by far our favorite store! Our nearest one is over 2 hours away but Kelli’s new doctor is within a 20 minute drive to IKEA so we’ve been checking out the store more often. Hooray!
How to Save Money at IKEA & Get Free Coffee
While we were there recently we spotted a sign explaining IKEA Family and saw this kiosk at several spots in the store.
Being committed deal hunters we were intrigued so we checked it out. Sign up was super easy and our IKEA Family cards printed in a matter of minutes from the machine. This is not a credit card, it is loyalty card (like your Kroger card or Rite-Aid card for example.)
It turns out that the IKEA Family loyalty program is pretty awesome. There are several benefits to having the card including special sales within the store, 30 extra minutes for your kids in the play land, an extended 90 day price protection (so if the price drops in the store within 90 days, you’ll receive the adjustment) and free coffee or tea in the IKEA restaurant!
We have a tradition when we visit IKEA; we always take time out to have a desert in the IKEA restaurant and mull over in our heads the awesome items we’ve seen on display. Then we think about what items we are going to go ahead and purchase. They have really yummy deserts and now we get to enjoy a free coffee or tea too!
The IKEA Family card also allows you to take advantage of specially priced menu items within the restaurant which vary each month. You’ll also save on food items you purchase in their food section of the store.
