As a coupon user we rely on stores coupon policies to provide a clear cut set of rules for coupon use.  Without the rules and our clear understanding of them we can’t take full advantage of our coupons.  The ultimate goal is to save as much as we can within the limits of the store’s policy.

One of the main goals of our website is to educate and assist others use coupons properly, easily and to enjoy it.  We’ve learned through experience, which we think is the best teacher in life.  One of the greatest tips we have for all of you is to carry a copy of store coupon policies with you.  We’ve printed them out and placed them in our coupon binder for easy reference, if we should need them.

This tip has come into play this week a few times as some of you  have encountered issues with misinformed cashiers and even managers at stores like Walmart and Dollar General.  It is so frustrating when we hear that you encountered an issue in the store when trying to complete a transaction with coupons.  We know it is frustrating for  you too.

We thought it was a good time to provide you with easy to find links to various stores’ coupon policies.  That way when you have time you can just click the links below and be taken right to the policy.  Simply print it out, put it in your coupon binder or box and you are all set.

We hope this helps!

  • Walmart coupon policy – The most important thing to know about Walmart is they allow overage.  That means that if an item is priced $1.50 and you have a $2 coupon, you get a full $2 taken off your total.  They can give it to you in cash back (if you are not buying anything else) or the “overage” will be applied to the order total.  Do not let the cashier adjust your coupon value to the cost of the item-that is NOT their policy.  You are entitled to the full value of the coupon.  This is one of the main reasons we love Walmart!  (This stipulation is noted towards the very bottom of their policy page).
  • Target coupon policy – Note that they allow you to use 2 coupons on an item, as long as one is a Target coupon and one is a manufacturer coupon.
  • Dollar General coupon policyNote that they allow you to use 2 coupons on an item, as long as one is a Dollar General coupon and one is a manufacturer coupon.  See item #6 on the policy for this stipulation.
  • CVS coupon policy
  • Rite Aid coupon policy
  • Walgreens coupon policy

It’s impossible to cover every store, so we recommend that if you shop often at a store we did not link up to simply type into Googlec.om “____ coupon policy” and you should receive search results to the coupon policy you can print.

While we know this won’t eliminate every coupon using hurdle you may encounter, we are very confident it will dwindle down issues and questions while you are checking out.  After all, the goal is to save money and have fun.

Happy saving!
