I am so excited about this that I wanted to share it with you guys, with the hopes that maybe it will help one or two of you if you experience problems with your Kindle.

I have been using my Kindle for about 2 years (thanks Mom & Dad for the great Christmas gift). Last week in the middle of browsing Facebook on the Kindle during lunch, the screen went black. I somewhat wondered if the battery was dead because I knew it had been a bit since I put it on the charger. I connected the charger and left it for a few hours but when I returned, the screen was still black and the device would not turn on.

For the life of me I couldn’t figure out why the Kindle had quit working, and it made me sad. I use it nearly every day for a little relaxation time in the evening while cuddled on the sofa (usually in my jammies).

The next morning I turned to Google and typed in “my Kindle won’t turn on” and was directed to I Love My Fire. There was an article on the website explaining how sometimes a Kindle will lock up and because this causes the screen to go black many people misinterpret this for it not turning on. Bingo – that is what had happened to mine!

To reset the Kindle I followed the easy directions:

  • Hold down the power button for at least 20 seconds
  • Release the power button
  • Press and release the power button and your unit should turn back on

I was over the moon pleased that this easy reset tip solved the problem. My Kindle is up and running just like new!

Thanks I Love My Fire!
