Oh my goodness , our tiny little town has some major rocking news – we now have a Dollar General store.
Yes, it is true, Sterling’s Dollar General is open for business. Living in a tiny rural town may be foreign to so many of you, but it is the life we lead. Until this store opened two weeks ago we didn’t have anything similar. No chain stores, no place to go to buy groceries without driving to the next town.
If we ran out of anything that the little corner shop or gas station didn’t have, we had to make a 10+ mile journey to the nearest grocery store. Imagine that … and then I think you will get the idea on how much of a game changer this is for us.

Dollar General comes to Sterling
As you can see from the parking lot, it is a hopping place.
The store is lovely, filled to the brim with fairly priced items. Yesterday I was making a crock pot dinner and I realized I was out of tomato paste. Normally that would have meant I would either:
a) jump in the car and drive 10+ miles to the grocery store in the next town over
b) cooked something else
But what happened?
I just hopped in the car and drove the 2 minutes up the road (less than two miles round trip from our house, I tracked it) and bought a can of tomato paste for just $0.50! I picked up a birthday card I had been meaning to get as well (love their 2/$1 card selection).
Seriously … life is good.
