Coupons!  We all love them, we all want them, but where to you get extra coupons?  It’s a question The Clever Couple gets often so we thought we’d share some of our ideas for getting free coupons!

  • Print them online! Why Wait for the Sunday Paper? Print Free Coupons Anytime Places like Coupons.com
Red Plum and Coupon Network have coupons online that you can print for free.  Most of them have a limit of 2 coupons per computer so it is beneficial if you have more than 1 computer in your home.  Or, if you can print 2 from home and 2 from work or a friend’s house, for example, you can stock up on these free coupons.
  • Facebook:  Many companies are releasing valuable printable coupons on their Facebook business pages.  Sometimes these offers go fast, so you want to be sure to like The Clever Couple on Facebook so you’ll see our immediate posts alerting you to the new Facebook printable coupon releases.  You can also join Couponing With The Clever Couple
  • Email:  Companies reward you for joining their email newsletter lists with free coupons and special offers.  Wendy’s is a good example;  you get an instant coupon just for signing up.  While this will increase the amount of “junk” email you receive, those emails often have valuable coupons attached so in our opinion it is worth it.
  • Ask your friends:  We heard a statistic that over 95% of the coupons issues go unused.  95%!  Ask your family and friends to save their coupon inserts for you.  As a bonus thank you for doing so we like to give them a treat now and then from our stockpile;  maybe a bottle of body wash or a box of cookies.  Bribery doesn’t hurt!
  • Work:  Again, ask your co-workers to save their inserts for you.  If you can, put a small box in the lunchroom or break room with the words “Please save your coupon inserts” on it.  Your co-workers that do not coupon can bring in their inserts and put them in the box.  Again, a reward to share isn’t a bad idea in this case!
  • Peelies:  Peelies are those small manufacturer’s coupons that are attached to the item.  You just tear off the coupon and hand it to the cashier when you check out.
  • Tear off pads:  In the stores you may encounter stacks of manufacturer’s coupons in a tear off pad format.  These coupons are placed by sales representatives within the store to entice shoppers into buying their products.  Look for them on end caps and on small displays that protrude from the aisle.  Just because you grab a tear off coupon doesn’t mean you have to use it that day.  Save it and team it up with a sale for that item to realize larger savings.
  • Promotional booklets:  Like tear off pads, promo booklets are placed in the store by the companies themselves to drum up business for a particular product or family of products.  One example is a Coke booklet we found in our local grocery store.  It not only had coupons for Coke but for snacks, sports drinks and even a movie combo ticket!  Look for these by the check out lanes or near the entrance.  They may have their own cardboard display.
  • Company sites:  Rite Aid has an awesome program called Rite Aid Video Values where you watch short 15 second to 1 minute videos (which are like commercials) for particular products.  Once you watch the video you earn a printable coupon for that product to be used at Rite Aid.  The cool thing about this program is they allow you to “stack” coupons;  this means you can use the Video Values coupon AND a manufacturer’s coupons on one item.  This strategy often results in free or nearly free products at Rite Aid.  It is free to join.
  • Just ask!  Writing a company and asking for coupons is a bit time consuming, but it often results in coupons.  Be warned though with the heightened attention being brought to coupon use we are thinking companies are going to curtail the amount of coupons they send out in the mail for these requests.  It’s just our hunch, but it is still worth a shot, especially for products you are brand loyal to or use a lot of.

We hope this Top 10 gives you some ideas for finding free coupons;  do you have any other ideas to add?  Like this article? Subscribe to The Clever Couple by Email so you stay up to date with our news and hot links.  You’ll get a once a day email summary of all our posts.
