We heard about this idea called the 52 Week Saving Challenge in the first week of 2013 and we were highly intrigued by the concept of saving a little bit each week. At the end of the year there would be $1378 in the account if you followed the plan.
We decided to try it, and to bring the idea to you as well. Each Friday we deposited the specified amount into the bank account and reminded our readers to do the same. We decided to work backwards, depositing the highest amount ($52) on week one, $51 on week two and downward. Many of you joined with us in the challenge and we know it was nice to see the bank balance build. Personally, we found it easier to work backwards while the energy was at an all time high and get the highest payments out of the way first. It is totally up to you how you want to structure your payments.
This plan has been a huge blessing in our lives! In our minds we had earmarked the money saved as our Christmas Holiday fund, and that is what we have been using the money for. What a huge relief to have the money available to spend; it took away the financial stress of shopping so we could concentrate on the magic of giving.
We have not used up all the money in the account, and we have decided to keep the balance there and start adding to it again on the first week of January 2014. Once again we’ll join the challenge and keep making our weekly deposits. Will you join us?
