Are you a spontaneous person? Do you like to do the unexpected and fly by the seat of your pants? While we are pretty organized and structured people we do enjoy a spontaneous “adventure” as we like to call it. Our nieces and nephews call it a “shake up”. Breaking up the monotony of a routine excites us and because we realize that every day is a gift we like to make every day count. This is a motto we have come to cherish and it truly does rule our world.
Work will always be there, the dirty laundry will always be there, the house will always need straightening and the bills will always need to be paid. But a precious memory making opportunity – nope. So go ahead and embrace new adventure – we promise you will like it. Seriously promise!
We did just that yesterday when we were informed that we could head to Detroit to view a taping of the WWE Smackdown event being held at the Joe Lewis Arena. We thought about the possibility for about 3 minutes and then decided that we were going to grab the opportunity and hit the road. We surprised our niece and nephew after school and they too were in on the adventure (we love them for that attitude, among other reasons)!
Our family has a lot of WWE fans and we have been watching professional wrestling for a long time. Both of our grandparents enjoyed it and when we first started dating many Friday nights were spent with a cheap take-out pizza in front of the TV watching Georgia Championship Wrestling. Oh the memories!
We left for Detroit after the kids got out of school and stopped at Sonic for some dinner. Here is a tip – Sonic can be really expensive! Oh boy….but it was delish and a fun treat.
Above Jim and the 2 kids are waiting to get into the Joe Lewis Arena (where the Detroit Red Wings play). We arrived in perfect time to pick up our tickets from Will Call and head right to our seats. WWE events are so well ran and there is a real feeling of fun and family at the events. Nearly every spectator was there with a young fan and it was nice to see the gentle ribbing between the fans as they cheered their favorites and booed their least favorites. We did not have time to make signs, but if you go know that it is OK to bring signs into the event.
If you have not been to a WWE event and your family likes professional wrestling on television – go! We’ve told you before about other WWE events and we are certain you will have fun.
Even if your seats are in the nosebleeds, WWE does a great job with their stage set up and there is a massive screen you can see all the up close action on during the entire show.
We all had a fantastic time, and look forward to our next WWE event.
Go enjoy an adventure – life is too short!
Special thanks to WWE Entertainment for the complimentary tickets!
