Zaycon Fresh has closed. That is a sentence I didn’t see myself writing to you, ever. Over the past few years we have continually spread the word about Zaycon Fresh to you, our readers. It has been the only place we have bought our fresh skinless chicken breasts from as well as ground beef. We have always been totally happy with Zaycon Fresh and the product that they provided.

Suddenly and without any sort of warning at all visitors were greeted with a message on June 25th when they visited the website. “It is with deep regret that we inform you that as of June 25th, we are suspending business operations. Zaycon Fresh has put forth monumental efforts to endure recent challenges but conditions are such that this suspension is necessary. Updates will be forthcoming as we are able to provide them.”

This announcement caught us off guard, and frankly made us sad.

Many of you reached out to us personally asking if we had heard the news that Zaycon Fresh has closed. We didn’t have a clue and found out that very day just like you did.

What happened?

At this point, there are numerous stories flying around the web suggesting why Zaycon Fresh has closed. As with anything in the news, people are quick to make assumptions and form theories. Truthfully, there has been no written statement saying what happened. In my gut I believe they may have grown too quickly and stretched their finances too thin to continue running as a profitable business. I have no idea if I am right, but that is my best guess. I don’t know if they will re-open in the future. No one knows.

What do you need to do?

If you have any open orders with Zaycon Fresh for future deliveries we encourage you to contact your financial institution and dispute the charges. We have read that many customers have already done that, and some have already received refunds. Since Zaycon has not addressed the reimbursement of payments, we believe it is safer to assume they won’t be automatically issuing refunds to those of you with orders in place.

The process may be quick for some of you, or may take some time. Our order had been paid with our Paypal debit card and when I reached out to them yesterday I discovered I had to mail in a form. (Imagine having to mail in a form instead of being able to complete the dispute online; that one surprised me). Your financial institution will have their own step by step instructions for filing the dispute; we urge you to follow through as soon as possible.
