We like to shop thrift stores because you can find amazing values there on everything from clothing to kitchen dishes!  It’s hit or miss, sometimes you find an awesome deal and other times they just don’t have anything all that fantastic.

We have noticed that for the past few years our local Goodwill stores have carried a large selection of new Target items including clothing, shoes and accessories, bedding, housewares and furniture.  Have you noticed this in your Goodwill too?  There is a relationship between Goodwill and Target and once the items have been reduced at Target to the lowest price (usually 75% to 90% off) they are then shipped to Goodwill stores.  This can mean a huge savings for you because the stores typically price them at or under what Target’s lowest price was.  Often the items have the tags still attached!  We have noticed that on some of the clothing there is a black mark through the label – but who cares when you are saving so much money?

Have you turned to Goodwill to school shop for your children?  You should!  Besides the new Target items you can find like new clothing that has been donated by people who’s children outgrew the item.  Just take it home, launder it and it is ready for wearing.  You will need to look over item carefully to be sure there are no holes, stains, defects, etc., but it is well worth your time.  And every week Goodwill runs a sale on one color of tag that is 50% off.  In our store the sales begin on Sunday.

We were there recently and came across this pair of Cherokee jeans (from Target), brand new, for our niece.  They were $2.99 and since the half off color was orange and they had an orange tag, they were just $1.50!  Imagine how much money you could save on school clothing for your kids.  Goodwill had 2 long racks of new Cherokee jeans, amongst others from Target.  All kids jeans were priced at $2.99!

We also found these adorable shoes for our niece, who had “sandals with heels” on her handwritten birthday wish list.  They are from Target too – and were only $3.99!  She is going to love them and we loved the price.

Explore your Goodwill stores to see what they have to offer.  Talk to the employees to find out when they put out new items from Target.  You will be pleasantly surprised by what you find.  Visit Goodwill’s website for locations.
