In our continued series “You Sold That for How Much?”, we wanted to bring you the story of this fabulous garage sale flip/eBay sale. We hope to encourage you to consider selling on eBay as a way to earn some extra money. To give you a little background, we own a business and we sell on eBay as part of our business model. You can read more about our online businesses here.

Recently we decided to list for sale a bunch of plush toys (yes, stuffed animals resell on eBay) that we have been acquiring. We bought these plush toys from thrift stores and garage sales.

Here are some of the plush toys/stuffed animals we have for sale currently.

This little guy was among the items we put up for sale last week.

It is a Zwibble Dibble by Gund. The only reason we knew this is because that is what the tag said!

We had never seen one before but thought it was mighty cute; Jim paid $1 for it at a garage sale a few months ago. We found out by checking eBay that no one had one like it listed. This is typically a good indicator that the item will sell for a higher price because it is scarce. We listed the item with a $89 price, but added on the “make a best offer” feature. We kind of figured that people would offer less; who pays $89 for a stuffed animal?

Well, apparently several people. The items sold for full asking price of $89 within 24 hours!

$89 – that is an incredible profit and not typical of all our plush sales, but it is a great example of the possibility and power of reselling on eBay.

After eBay fees and shipping the item (we offered free shipping), our profit was about $78. What would you do with an extra $78? We put it in our vacation fund!
