Kroger, We’ve Fallen In Love….Our Free Finds at Kroger Today Using Coupons

Late this afternoon we went to our local Kroger store to pick up some items for our busy weekend to come, and to use some nice coupons from the newspaper and coupons we printed here.  By “local” Kroger, I mean we hopped in the car and drove 25 miles…….but that is OK because we enjoy shopping at Kroger and we always walk away with amazing deals.

Since we’ve only been seriously couponing since the start of the year, we are still fine tuning our technique to shopping there-but don’t we all have a “work in progress” with our coupon usage?

First some facts about “our” Kroger…they double coupons up to and including $1, so a $1 coupon becomes $2.  Yes, we know we are blessed to have a store that has this generous coupon policy.  We know, and we are grateful.  We can not use e-coupons with manufacturer’s coupons, so we’ve all but given up on loading e-coupons to our Kroger card because if you have the coupons loaded and you forget to remove them if you find a better mfg. coupon, the e-coupon will come off your order first when you scan your Kroger card and then your mfg. coupons will not be accepted.  And, our store will not allow overage.  If an item is priced at $1.89 for example, and you have a coupon for $1 off you will receive $1 off plus $0.89 bonus coupon match.

Today’s trip netted us some great scores because we were able to combine the store sales with our coupons.  This is the golden rule of coupon usage………combine the coupons with store specials to get a rock bottom price!

Some of today’s free and nearly free finds:

KC Masterpiece sauce, $1.69 sale & $1 mfg. coupon that became $2 off (free)

Bar-S Franks, $0.79 sale & $1 off (2) mfg. coupons that became $2 off (free)

Almond Accents, $3.69 BOGO & used (2) $1 off mfg. coupon that became $2 off each (free)

King’s Hawaiian rolls, 2/$4 store sale & used (2) $1 off mfg. coupons that became $2 off each (free)

Sure deodorant, $1.69 sale & $1 off mfg. coupon that became $2 off (free)

Fuze drink, $1.25 sale & $0.55 mfg. coupon that became $1.10 off (paid $0.15)

Carefree liners, $0.99 & $0.50 mfg. coupon that became $0.50 off (free)

Protein bars, $1.09 regular price & $0.55 mfg. coupon that became $1.10 (free)

Turkey Hill half gallon tea, 4/$5 sale & $1 off 2 mfg. coupon that became $2 off (paid $0.25 per half gallon)

Coke products 12 packs, 4/$10 sale & $1 off (3) mfg. coupon that became $2 off (paid $2 for each 12 pack)

We had a bunch of other items, but as I am writing in the office and don’t feel like visiting the kitchen and stockpile area (since I just put it all away….), let me just say it was fun.  It was amazing.  It was thrifty!  To top off the shopping trip, Jim pulled up to get gas at the Kroger gas station where gas was $3.83 a gallon to discover we reached 204 points on our Kroger Fuel Rewards so we saved $0.20 per gallon on the gas.  Good thing our tank was empty, so we took full advantage of that $3.63 a gallon price!

What is your favorite store to shop at with your coupons?  Obviously, you know our answer!
