Lots Of Shopping, Lots Of Savings – Why We Love Coupons

We were in shopping mode yesterday as we also accomplished errands.  We did really well at our stops to Walgreens, Menards, Rite Aid and Kroger.

All in all, we bought $338.83 of items.  After store sales, coupons, rewards and rebates we paid just $49.71!  Of this it included 2 bags of Epson salt ($12), a breast pump ($22 on clearance, for a friend) and $11 in the Gilette gift bag we told you about here.  So, that means after taking away those items we only spent $4.71 when you figure in the rebates we have to submit and the UP rewards and Register Rewards.  104 items!

I won’t bore you with the details, but some of the highlights include:

  • 7 toothpastes
  • 2 cans of deck stain
  • 8 bottles of vitamins
  • 4 razors
  • 10 shelf brackets
  • 8 mini size deodorants
  • 2 garden hose nozzles
  • Compound W wart remover ($17.99 retail!)
  • 3 Oxy face care products
  • 6 Spic & Span wipes
  • Splenda
  • School supplies
  • Dressing
  • Frozen treats

When we share deals like this it is not meant to brag;  it is meant to ignite the excitement you have for saving money and keeping your hard earned dollars in your pocket.  If you enjoy couponing then posts like this bring a smile to your face.  If you are new to couponing, we encourage you to read our Getting Started guide to help you out.  It’s not all about who can get the most.  For us, it is about scoring stuff for free or near free that we use anyway.  If we don’t use the item then we are always thinking of ways we can help the community by donating things.  Sharing with family and friends is also a great way to spread the gift of couponing.

Do you have a college bound child or friend?  Start a gift basket for them!

Do you have a friend or neighbor on assistance?  Share your toiletries with them!

Do you have a pet shelter nearby?  They are always happy to take pet item donations.

Look beyond your own home for ways to share;  it will bring you a feeling of inner joy that is priceless.

Happy savings!

  1. Bore us with the details, never! I love your savings and that you are helping other people with your knowledge and ability to save. I do the same thing, regular donations to the animal shelter, the food pantry and donations to gift baskets to help incoming military families. Share the coupon love! 🙂 ~Apryl

  2. Thanks Apryl! It’s awesome that so many members of the coupon community value giving back. It feels so good to share!

Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us!
